CHRISTMAS: HEALTHY SMILES AND GOOD COMPANY
- On November 3, 2017
Christmas is always a very special date to spend on business meals and visiting the ones we love, maybe sharing a glass of wine, a coffee, some “tapas” or a large meal. For this reason, LG Dental’s team wishes you a nice Christmas time and a Happy New Year.
Additionally, I would like to give you my very personal gift: providing you with some tips to take a good care of your smile during this festive season, and keep in mind that the beauty of your teeth depends very much on the colour of tooth enamel, the tooth anatomy and having pink, firm gums.
#1 Watch out the amount of sugar you take
- It is preferable to eat hard nougat, as it contains less sugar due to its composition: almonds, honey and egg-white.
- Try to eat something solid while drinking any sugary drink. This will increase saliva production and prevent your teeth from decay.
- Eat dark chocolate (70%) with antioxidants.
#2 Enjoy red wine
It is preferable to drink red wine over white wine or champagne. Despite it is not much beneficial for your teeth (it contains malid, lactic and citric acids), white wine and champagne are extremely erosive, both for tooth enamel and dental cement.
#3 Brush your teeth after every meal
- Use dental floss: especially during the night. As our mouth produces less saliva during the night, this increases the amount of bacteria that feed on food debris located between our teeth. For this reason, it is advisable to use dental floss to avoid bacterial growth.
- If you cannot brush your teeth, chew sugar-free gum to increase saliva production and stop bacterial growth.
Hope you enjoy this festive season with your family and friends!
